Hasselblad 905SWC Medium
Format Viewfinder Camera Body

The Hasselblad 905SWC provides the ultimate tool for
distortion-free, super wide-angle photography. This
unique camera boasts a permanently attached Biogon
CFi 4.5/38 mm lens with 91° diagonal angle of view.
An extremely compact camera whose quality and
performance are legendary.
Industrial and architectural photography place
special demands on the photographer's equipment.
Often a very short focal length is required. As is
picture quality that enables photos to be enlarged
to exhibition formats. And with virtually no
distortion - vertical and horizontal lines must be
straight, even along the edges of a giant print. And
you need a camera that can be handled even when
you're balancing on scaffolding, hanging out of a
helicopter, or squeezed into a tight corner trying
to get just the right angle. The Hasselblad 905SWC
probably meets these demands better than any other
camera.
In the 905SWC, the permanently attached Zeiss Biogon
38 mm lens has been upgraded to CFi status and the
optical design completely recalculated using only
environmentally optimized optical glass types,
containing no lead or arsenic.
The Biogon 38 lens produces a large picture format
with "architectural view camera quality", virtually
no distortion, and superb corner- to- corner
sharpness throughout the focusing range - from 0.3 m
(12") to infinity (exceeding the quality of even
large format cameras at full aperture and at all
distances). The depth-of-field is staggering, from
0.65 m (26") to infinity at f/22. All in all, it's
no wonder that this lens is acclaimed by many as the
best wide-angle lens in the world.
The 905SWC is also very compact and handy, and its
operation is as simple as it is obvious.
This combination has made the Hasselblad 905SWC a
favorite of leading industrial and architectural
photographers. Its usage areas don't stop there,
however. The 905SWC is also an excellent
general-purpose camera for such things as
photojournalism, landscape, aerial photography and
reproduction work. The Hasselblad 905SWC is a
typical Hasselblad with regard to design, quality,
reliability and the interchangeable film magazines.
It is, however, markedly different from other models
in many ways.
The 905SWC is smaller, and even easier to use. It
has an optical viewfinder with a built-in spirit
level and a magnifier that allows you to read the
scales on the lens at the same time that you
concentrate on the picture.
Switching magazines from color film to
black-and-white, or from transparency to color
negative, is fast and easy. You can take a Polaroid
in the middle of a roll to check exposure and
composition.
For precise composition and focusing, a focusing
screen adapter can be used together with any
viewfinder. The RMfx finder is particularly
suitable, providing a vertically correct image
(reversed sidewise). Light metering can be made
using any type of meter prism viewfinder. |
