Seagull, a budget 6X6 cameras
Want an entry level medium format camera
at a very low price? Try this Chinese made 6X6 twin lens reflex camera. Seagull has full
manual exposure controls, with 75mm f/3.5 lens. It accepts 120 film, shutter speeds from 1
sec. to 1/300 sec. plus bulb. It also includes a self-timer, hot shoe, multiple exposure,
and rugged metal body. Lens is non interchangeable and is surprisingly sharp. Shutter
release is conveniently placed next to the lens. Large film wind lever is located on the
right side of the camera. Seagull has a very bright focusing screen.
So, is it really capable of producing quality pictures? Believe it or not, yes. It's no
match for a Hasselblad but it can hold its own against many of today's top 35mm cameras.
You'd be surprised with the results. It has a very sharp lens which can produce quality
6X6 images that are as good as any 35mm or even better. Main draw backs are non
interchangeable lens, no option for a metered prism. It costs less than $200. For this
price you can't go wrong. Seagull is the most affordable way to enter medium format
photography. If the cost of medium format cameras is preventing you from moving up,
Seagull is a perfect choice.

GC-109 Medium format Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) Camera with Built-in 75mm f/3.5
4 Element Taking Lens & Shutter/Aperture info in viewfinder

This camera is a step up from the 4A-107. For the first
time in Seagull's history of Twin Lens Reflex Cameras, the photographer
doesn't have to look away from his or her subject in order to adjust the
aperture or the shutter speed on the camera. On the other models, you have
to turn the camera towards you and change the speeds or aperture by looking
at the front taking lens. This is where the controls are. On the 4A-109
camera, there are 2 knobs; one for the shutter speed and one for the
aperture, these are located so that you can turn them as you are looking
through the viewfinder. There is a small window directly in front of the
viewfinder that allows you to view these settings so that you can see the
changes as you turn the knobs. This a major improvement which every
photographer will enjoy.
