Tokina

Tokina makes AF and manual focus lenses for most camera brands with terms such as AT-X, SZ-X and SL series. SZ-X and SL are manual focus lenses which include most popular zooms plus a 17mm and 400mm f-5.6 lenses. Their AF series consists of wide to telephoto zoom lenses including a 20-35mm, 28-70mm, 70-210mm, and 75-300mm.

The AT-X line of AF and MF lenses (AT-X stands for Advanced Technology-Xtra) are some of the highest quality lenses built both in terms of sharpness and construction, and best of all they are a lot lower in price than other camera brand lenses of the same type. If I were to start over I would definitely purchase Tokina's AT-X lenses. My work horse is a Tokina 80-200mm f-2.8 lens which is razor sharp and very solid. The only time I leave it at home is when I'm not taking pictures.
The AT-X lenses are available in 20-35mm f-2.8, 28-70mm f-2.8 , 80-200mm f-2.8, 100mm-300mm f -4, and a very compact 80-400mm f-5.6. Tokina also offers fixed focal lenses in this group. Among them a 17mm f-3.5, 100mm f-2.8 macro, a 300mm f-4 and a 300mm f-2.8. If you need a light weight, low cost 400mm lens with good sharpness consider Tokina's 400mm f-5.6 which I think is a very good buy. In manual focus Tokina only offers three lenses in ATX versions, a 150-500mm f-5.6, 80-200mm f-2.8 and 300mm f-2.8.

See lens tests for Tokina lenses. Includes: 35-300mm, 100-400mm, 20-35mm, 80-200mm f-2.8, 19-35mm f-3.5-4.5.
